As we grow, in members and in the spirit of Christ, this addition to our present space will help us in our mission to proclaim the God we have come to know – the God who exceeds all our expectations.

The design we have chosen preserves the intimacy of a small space, and allows us to be “with one another” as we worship.

The design creates better access to the Church, a larger sanctuary, office and classroom space on the upper level. Natural light will flood the altar from the skylights.

An interior stairways and a lift make it possible to move from upstairs to the lower level.

The size of the present foundation footprint is the same. The space is redesigned to add;

§        Downstairs bathrooms.

§        Stairway and lift to upper level.

§        A new kitchen.

§        A larger area for parish gatherings and public events.

This design is the third phase in the long-term growth strategy St. Elizabeth’s has employed.

Some history:

Phase I.

In 1989, the worship area was enlarged on its present foundation, to allow for more worship space and a larger sanctuary. A wheelchair ramp was added, and the original bathroom was replaced with two handicap-accessible bathrooms.

Phase II.

In 1992, an entirely new addition to the basement level was completed, creating a new Sunday School space. This space was designed to accommodate the growing number of families with small children, and to give us space for both youth and adult education programs. The space was designed with the ultimate goal of being the foundation (in the literal sense) of our next construction phase.

In 2001, the parking areas surrounding the Church were re-graded and paved to add drive up wheelchair access to the basement level.

Phase III.

This is the plan you see before you. By adding more worship space, revamping our gathering spaces, and adding interior stairways and a lift, we gain these benefits;

ü     A worship space big enough for a growing parish, providing flexibility for creative and diverse celebrations.

ü     Downstairs bathrooms

ü     Easy transition between the upstairs and downstairs levels – currently, moving from the worship space (and the bathrooms) to the parish hall and Sunday school involves going outside.

By creating a more inviting, useful space for our Worship and Work, we will be able to offer the space for use by community and educational groups.
