Saint Elizabeth's is pleased to welcome Deacon Bruce Nickerson to our church and to our families.
Bruce has been a Deacon in the Episcopal Church for almost 20 years. He was ordained in the diocese of Rhode Island, has served as deacon in St. James Episcopal church in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Christ Church in Somerville, and St. Bartholomew's in Cambridge.
Bruce has a PhD in Folklore from Indiana University in Indiana, having written his dissertation on the folklore of blue collar workers.
Bruce volunteers at the CASPAR Emergency Services Center, a Cambridge Massachusetts "wet" shelter, where he works with people in early recovery from addictions. He also convenes a similar support group with inmates at Concord Prison. "Spare Change Newspaper" publishes his articles about recovery, and life on the streets.
Bruce is married and has four adult children, four grandchildren, and one great grandson.
