What is Islam?
To foster a broader understanding between faiths, St. Elizabeth's Episcopal
Church, 4 Forest Street in Wilmington, will feature a three part Lenten series
about Islam during March and April 2011.
The series will include: a history of Muhammad’s life; a review of the Quran; and a summary of Sunnah (Islamic culture). Consideration will be given to the Quran’s relationship to Christianity’s and Judaism’s scriptures and beliefs; current misunderstandings about Islam; and Islam’s supposed links to terrorism.
The talks will be given by Taymullah Abdur-Rahman.
Taymullah Abdur-Rahman is a native of Boston. After traveling to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina for a period of study, Taymullah was certified to teach Islamic Fundamentals. He is currently Muslim chaplain for three Mass. Dept. Of Corrections Institutions.
